Possessor - Uncut
Tasya Vos, an elite corporate assassin, uses brain-implant technology that helps her control other people’s bodies and carry out high-profile assassinations. Further refining his provocative vision, writer-director Brandon Cronenberg uses Possessor’s potentially over-the-top premise as a delivery mechanism for stylishly disturbing thrills. Splatters of ultra-violence, gruesome images of body horror and a mistrust of technology are all perfectly executed when in the talented grasp of Cronenberg. The star of the show is however Christopher Abbott. As the chosen vessel for the next job, he not only has to play a man struggling for control of his own mind and body but also at times act as though Andrea Riseborough is playing his character. It is an incredibly complex and layered performance.
