Lost Ones
During the winter of 1947, the once prosperous, yet now forgotten British seaside town of Hastings bode farewell to one of its most notorious residents: the Occultist, Aleister Crowley (known internationally as ‘the Wickedest Man in the World’). Having travelled far and wide, he returned to Hastings. During his final days with his health failing he cast one final spell over the town: cursing the people born there from ever being able to escape.
Lost Ones explores this history through an ode to youth set in the present day; a time where opportunities outside of London are hard to come by; rural pipe dreams aplenty, abundance & prospects scarce. This is a poignant ‘coming of age’ film of teenage banality in all its heady, mysterious and sometimes violent detail.
During the time when another summer comes to an end, a tight-knit group of youths chase their drum n bass music dreams. It’s the beginning of the divide between the anywheres and the somewheres, as leader Alfie Field struggles at a personal crossroads, with an opportunity his first love cannot watch him pass….
