Directed By John Ford

Director Peter Bogdanovich explores the life of distinguished American filmmaker John Ford is brought to the screen through a series of interviews with the legendary director himself, clips from some of his most well-known movies and reflections from a number of Ford’s film stars. Produced for the American Film Institute in 1971, and rarely seen. Note that this is NOT the revised 2006 version of the documentary (which is still in copyright); but a reconstruction and restoration of the original ‘lost’ 1971 version now in the public domain, using the surviving, poor-quality print as a cutting guide.
