Comfort and Joy

Deeper View. Bill Forsyth’s follow up to the evergreen Gregory’s Girl sets out to turn a comically dark chapter of Glasgow’s history - The Ice Cream Wars - into an adult fairy tale. This beautifully crafted example of Scottish cinema, from the countries permanent auteur. And for us here at Deeper HQ, this movies poster is one of the truly great pieces of design thats ever been printed as a UK Quad.

The Synopsis. One cold Glaswegian afternoon, radio disc jockey Alan Bird, witnesses the violent destruction of a seemingly innocent ice cream van by an angry competitor. The incident leads him into the underworld of two waring Italian families, the Bernardis and the Rossis, as they battle to take supremacy over who’s vans can sell Ice Cream’s on the streets on Glasgow.
